Springer Nature - Transformative agreement

The new Springer Nature 2025-2029 agreement has yet to be formalized. However, as an early implementation of the service, it is possible to use APCs for articles published in Springer Nature hybrid journals that are accepted starting July 1, 2025

Journals in which publishing in open access is possible

In all hybrid journals and on the ones flipped to full open access in 2025 present on the SpringerLink platform.

Open-access publishing in Nature journals is not possible under the terms of the contract.

Workflow for publishing in open accessThe corresponding author may choose to publish his or her work in open access only if at the submission stage, at the end of the peer review process, he or she follows the publication process proposed by the publisher on the MyPublication platform and selects the Scuola Normale as organisation of affiliation and /or utilises his or her SNS e-mail address @sns.it and/or connects to a workstation connected to the SNS network. The affiliation is verified and validated by the referents of the Scuola Normale.
The validation of the corresponding author takes into account the date of acceptance of the article on the part of the publisher independently of the date of the first submission.
APCs coverThe agreement does not include a pre-established distribution of the APCs among the subscribing institutions. The APCs are progressively used up until the number available at national level is exhausted.

Self-archiving mode (Green Open Access)SNS affiliated authors are permitted to self-archive an “Author’s Accepted Manuscript” version (post-print) of their article into the institutional repository after the embargo period of twelve months from first publication of the article. An acknowledgement in the following form should be included, together with a link to the published version on the publisher’s website: “This is a post-peer-review, pre-copyedit version of an article published in [insert journal title]. The final authenticated version is available online at https://dx.doi.org/[insert DOI].
