How to orient yourself

In addition to the signage present in the physical spaces, the Guide to the localisations and the List of call numbers are two tools for finding your way among the sites of the Library (and among the floors of the various sites) and for knowing where to find the resources found in the SEARCH catalogue, starting from the indications present in the bibliographical record.

The physical collections are mainly on open shelves, and are freely accessible: see On-site consultation.

The closed shelf collections are identified in the catalogue by the wording [scaffale chiuso] (i.e. close shelf) after the localisations (e.g. Pisa - Capitano - Biblioteca Barbi [scaffale chiuso] - Misc. Ba. 046.31).

For the consultation of closed shelf material, visit the page Distribution of closed shelf material.
