The Alessandro Torri Collection Library
The volumes and papers of the “Alessandro Torri” Collection represent the most valuable record of the life and work of the Veronese scholar, editor, and bibliographer Alessandro Torri.
The book collection presented here constitutes the most substantial portion of the donation that Torri made to the Scuola Normale in 1855 — the library he himself referred to as his “Dante collection” — in exchange for a life annuity granted by the then Minister of Education and Public Charity of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The collection also includes an archival section (mainly letters and modern manuscripts), preserved and partially catalogued separately within our Library.
