The monograph collection is organized into two main areas: General Linguistics and the Linguistics of Individual Languages, the latter with particularly extensive coverage of the Romance languages, and Italian in particular.

The main topics represented in the collection include: Morphosyntax, including comparative approaches; Phonetics and Phonology; Lexicology; Semantics; Sociolinguistics; Historical Linguistics, with special attention to the transition from Latin to the Romance languages; Typological and Contrastive Linguistics; Neurolinguistics; Experimental and Theoretical Linguistics in both Romance and general linguistic fields; and Italian Linguistics, with particular emphasis on the history of the language, dialectology, and early texts, supported by appropriate lexicographical resources. The collection also includes materials on endangered languages.

The open-shelf monograph collection is located in Pisa, on the 3rd floor of the Capitano site.

The Linguistics and History of the Italian Language periodicals are part of the Humanities journals sector located in the Orologio-Carovana site (Palazzo della Carovana, ground floor and 1st floor).

 

New acquisitions

The list of the new acquisitions is published in the SEARCH catalogue and includes titles acquired within the last two months.

The development of the collection is also supported by the Edoardo Vineis fund, established through an annual donation by this scholar trained at the SNS.
